A must visit: Sharjah’s luxurious eco-conscious Kalba Kingfisher Lodge

East CoastEco-friendly

Kalba Kingfisher Lodge is an eco-friendly tented camp situated within a protected nature reserve–home to some of the oldest mangroves in Sharjah. The groundbreaking hospitality development boasts distinctive local fauna and flora, and an ecolodge status on par with some of the world’s best ecotourism destinations. An ecolodge refers to a tourist accommodation designed to have minimum possible impact on the natural environment in which it is situated.

In line with ecolodge principles, the lodge was constructed in compliance with the highest global standards of green and sustainable building. Structures were specifically built high off the ground to maintain a low environmental footprint and more specifically, to protect the indigenous turtle nesting areas.

The five-star lodge comprises of 25 luxury tents, that offer guests uniquely tranquil accommodation set against an unspoiled backdrop of nature. Each tent features a private swimming pool and incredible vistas of the Indian Ocean and the forest of mangrove trees–a natural habitat of the kingfisher and other rare bird species.

Public facilities at the lodge include, among others, a lounge, an outdoor yoga and wellness centre, entertainment areas, and restaurants. For the adventurous, an array of sports activities are available in the area such as kayaking through the mangroves, mountain biking and archery. More relaxed ventures include bird and sea turtle watching, and exploring the pristine beaches neighboring the lodge.

The Kalba Kingfisher Lodge is situated about 130km from the city of Sharjah on the coastline of Kalba, and forms part of the Sharjah Collection by Mantis.
